Spanish Preconceptions

by Aishling

I’ve always associated Spain with sun, sea, sand and tourist resort

But last weekend, while on a work team-building trip, I was exposed to the country’s natural beauty. We stayed in a restored farmhouse in the mountains in the province of Teruel. The landscape was beautiful. Both mornings we walked/struggled to the top of a nearby mountain peak. The views were breath-taking. The photos really don’t do it justice.

When we were leaving at the end of the weekend, we got a taxi down the mountain (not for the faint-hearted) to the nearest town to catch our bus to the airport. The town (in the photos above) is completely untouched by tourism. There was a religious event that day so one of the locals was scattering herbs (I think) over the streets.

And don’t get me started on the villa. It was the perfect retreat.
