24 Hours In Budapest

by Aishling

My summer holiday kicked off with 24 hours in Budapest. As we had a short window of opportunity for sightseeing, we got ourselves tickets for a hop-on hop-off bus tour. The bus had no roof, the sun was shining and the architecture was beautiful. Needless to say I was snap happy. Towards the end of the tour, we got off the bus and made our way to the cable cars (located at the Buda end of the Chain Bridge). And the rest of the evening was spent wandering around Castle Hill. The buildings were beautiful and the views over Budapest were stunning. We also witnessed the Changing of the Guard at the Hungarian Presidential Palace.

That night I switched my Motel Rocks shorts for a Motel Rocks playsuit and embarked on a pub crawl. We experienced the ruin pubs of Budapest (basically abandoned factories and tenement houses that have been turned into bars/pubs)

The next morning we raided the market for souvenirs, stocked up on snacks and drinks, and began the trek to Croatia (three trains and a bus were involved).

It sounds like you took a similar route to me this summer. Looking forward to your Croatia post!
